Summary

Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies have grown dramatically since the advent of Bitcoin in 2009 — entire new industries have spawned and many new possibilities of using blockchain have been proposed including creating social justice, overcoming poverty, improving the environment. At the same time, incredible advances have been made in the types and roles of cryptocurrency derivative assets/synthetic instruments in the traditional financial world. This outlines the path for cryptocurrencies and blockchain in creating genuine sustainability and social good — incorporating both the opportunities and the challenges that are ahead.
