The 7th edition of Top Scientists Ranking for Computer Science & Electronics, released by Guide2Research, one of the leading portals for computer science research, highlights 22 Portuguese scientists this year. Eleven Técnico researchers stand out in the 6th edition of Top Scientists Ranking for Computer Science, released by Guide2Research, one of the leading portals for computer science research. The highest number of Portuguese scientists is affiliated with Instituto Superior Técnico, with CEGIST member (and acting President) José Rui Figueira as one of them.

Professor Anil K. Jain (Michigan State University) ranked 1st in the Guide2Research list, followed by professor Herbert Simon, one of the winners of the 1978 Nobel Prize in Economics (Carnegie Mellon University). Professor Jiawei Han (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) holds the 3rd position. Position in the ranking is based on each scientist’s influential contributions based on their h-index from Google Scholar. The h-index threshold for accepting a scientist to be examined is set to 40 provided that most of their publications are in the area of computer science and indexed in DBLP. The awards and distinctions of each scientist are also considered.

The list aims to highlight the major contributions on computer science and to inspire researchers, entrpreneurs and decision-makers across the world to explore where the leading experts are heading.
