Summary

This talk reviews some contributions made to date for the problems that arise in a railway system and the way to solve them by applying a multi-criteria method is studied. It focuses on the current literature on mathematical models and solution methods, carrying out an exhaustive study of selected most interesting case studies. In addition, part of the talk is devoted to the analysis of the Spanish railway system.
 

Speaker's bio

Dr. Bartosz Sawik is an Assistant Professor (since October 2013) at the Department of Applied Computer Science, Faculty of Management, AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow, Poland.  He defends his PhD with honors (February 2012) in Operations Research at Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Electronics, AGH University. He has been a Visiting Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley (3 months), USA, Universidad Publica de Navarra, Pamplona, Spain (3 months), Universitat Politecnica de Valencia, Alcoi, Spain (one month) and Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3) – Open University of Catalonia (UOC), Castelldefels, Barcelona, Spain (one month). He is a member of HAROSA research group (UOC Barcelona, Spain) and CYTED-HAROSA research group (UPNA Pamplona, Spain). He has published several individual articles in refereed journals and individual refereed chapters in books indexed in JCR and Scopus. He has been a Principal Investigator in one research grant in Poland and an Investigator in additional four research projects (two in Poland and two in Spain). He has been PhD Thesis Co-Advisor (Finished): 2 (Poland) and PhD Thesis External Reviewer (Finished): 3 (Spain).
