6th Brown Bag Seminar for PhD Students

The sixth Brown Bag Seminar, an informal gathering for CEGIST's PhD students to engage and exchange ideas, is scheduled for March 22nd from 13h00 to 14h30 in Alameda (DEG meeting room).

During this meeting, we'll be able to get to know and discuss career opportunities with Prof. Duarte Dinis and Prof. Miguel Vieira.

Duarte Dinis is Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering of NOVA School of Science and Technology (NOVA SST). At NOVA SST he is Head of the Reliability Engineering and Maintenance Management courses. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Design and Advanced Manufacturing with work performed in the development and application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms to Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) industries. He holds an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in aviation maintenance. He has worked as Project Manager in the naval sector and as Maintenance Planner in aviation. His research interests include the application of methods within uncertainty modeling, risk, and multicriteria decision analysis to solve real industrial problems.

Miguel Vieira is an Assistant Professor in Industrial Engineering and Management courses at the Faculty of Engineering of Lusófona University - Lisbon University Center. He obtained his PhD in Leaders for Technical Industries (Engineering Design and Advanced Manufacturing focus area) from Instituto Superior Técnico in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under the MIT Portugal Program. Miguel’s research has been focused in solving real-world industrial problems through the application of advanced modelling approaches, alongside with the leading collaboration in numerous industrial-based projects. He is the author of several publications addressing the challenges of optimization methods, simulation models and machine learning algorithms to solve supply chain, design, planning and scheduling problems of complex production decision systems.
