Guilherme P. Afonso is currently a Ph.D. student researcher at the Centre for Management Studies in Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). Since 2022, he holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Sciences and a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from IST, University of Lisbon. His master's thesis focused on analyzing the impact of healthcare services’ quality and access on hospital performance. He also worked as a research fellow on the hSNS (Portuguese public hospital performance assessment using a multicriteria decision analysis framework) project for six months. In 2018, he began his university teaching career as a tutor for the Anatomy and Histology course at the School of Medicine, University of Lisbon, a role he held until 2020. In 2022, he started pursuing a Ph.D. in Engineering and Management, which he is still developing. His research centers on performance assessment, particularly focusing on healthcare, using non-parametric methods (network-DEA). This work is being supervised by Professors José Rui Figueira and Diogo Cunha Ferreira. He published two papers in international journals and has presented his work at several national and international conferences.
