João Almeida is a PhD candidate in Engineering and Management at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon, and conducts research at the Centro de Estudos de Gestão do Instituto Superior Técnico (CEGIST). He holds a BSc and MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management from IST. During his MSc, João focused on developing methodologies for thesis defence scheduling using linear optimisation techniques.

In October 2022, João commenced his PhD in Engineering and Management at IST. His research is centered on Operational Research, with a focus on automating and improving operational efficiency in complex systems. João's work contributes to addressing real-world challenges in scheduling and resource allocation, leveraging advanced mathematical modeling and computational techniques. His PhD thesis, supervised by Professors José Rui Figueira, Alexandre Francisco, and Daniel Santos, is titled "Efficient Multi-objective Algorithms for University Timetabling."

His professional experience spans operations management and process automation, where he consistently applied his knowledge to deliver impactful solutions.
