Guilherme Vara is a PhD student in Engineering and Management at the IST. He holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Urban Planning and Systems, from IST. His master’s thesis analyzed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the performance and efficiency of Portuguese public hospitals. His PhD research focuses on exploring innovative benchmarking methodologies to improve environmental performance assessment. His PhD thesis is supervised by José Rui Figueira and Diogo Cunha Ferreira.
