João Lourenço holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering and Management from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), a Master’s in Operational Research and Systems Engineering from IST, and a degree in Applied Mathematics from Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa. He is an Assistant Professor at IST, where he teaches Decision Support Models in several master’s programs and in the PhD program in Engineering and Management, as well as Business Analytics in the bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Management. His research focuses mainly on decision analysis and operational research. He has also led and collaborated on national and international projects and consultancy work for public and private organisations, primarily in decision support systems, but also in the organisation and planning of production systems, and in the analysis and configuration of logistical systems.
